The Study Away Office at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) East Falls Campus provides students with the opportunity to experience the world beyond the borders of our campus and country. The Study Away Office prepares students for successful participation and competition in an increasingly interdependent world, and to perform with distinction in the international and multicultural contexts that are increasingly shaping professional life.
Students at Jefferson - East Falls Campus may study away and receive credit for courses that apply directly to their challenging, professional-oriented curricula. Opportunities are available for fall, spring and summer semesters, at locations all around the world. Click on the Program List to learn more about them. Jefferson offers custom semester programs in Rome, Italy (Design, Fashion, Business) and San Jose, Costa Rica (Health Sciences majors at East Falls Campus), National Student Exchange, Faculty-led Short Courses, and semester and summer terms at partner institutions abroad.
Take a look at how an experience studying away can broaden your perspectives and shape your future by meeting some of the students, faculty and staff from the Jefferson Rome semester.
Please refer to Jefferson's Corona Virus page for updates on Fall semester and other university policies.
Fall 2020 Programs: Jefferson has made the difficult decision to suspend Study Away programs for Fall 2020. This decision was based upon indeterminate travel restrictions, guidance from the Department of State, Centers for Disease Control, The World Health Organization and potential for disruptions to academic plans and learning. The health and safety of our students is our priority, as is their academic progress and success.
Students have been informed of the decision and are being advised by the Study Away office and their academic program as they revise their plans. They will have the opportunity to defer to the Spring semester or plan for a future global experience. Jefferson is committed providing students with the opportunity for global engagement, whether it is through Study Away programs or opportunities on campus.
Spring 2021 Programs:
Spring semester travel will be reviewed by October 15. Please be advised that we will be making decisions about future programs as well following the same guidance and we will keep you apprised of decisions in as timely a manner as possible.
